In 1996, Amazing Grace Conservatory (AGC) was born out of the passion for the arts and the love for children by co-founders, the late Mr. Tracy Lamar Coley and Executive Director Wendy Raquel Robinson.
The mission of Amazing Grace Conservatory is to train and develop emerging artists & at risk youth in the performing arts by offering a well-rounded and culturally enriching, educational program in an environment that is nurturing for their personal, artistic and professional growth.
Located in South LA, AGC offers high quality, affordable performing arts training in acting, voice and dance for youth, ages 8 -18 and emerging artists, in an atmosphere filled with positive images of themselves and their community.
AGC provides youth opportunities for artistic development, creative expression, and self-discovery. Students attend an array of classes taught by industry professionals, who both educate and mentor. AGC provides three sessions a year that culminate with original and Broadway musicals. AGC’s curriculum replicates an authentic approach to industry practices, focusing on artistic development, with sensitivity towards their interpersonal development.
AGC stresses excellence, discipline, punctuality, and mutual responsibility. Extensive parental and alumni involvement, as well as community support are key to the success and sustainability of AGC. These factors have lead to AGC’s stature as a stellar institution in LA.
In 1996, Amazing Grace Conservatory (AGC) was born out of the passion for the arts and the love for children by co-founders, the late Mr. Tracy Lamar Coley and Executive Director Wendy Raquel Robinson. Growing up in inner cities, Atlanta & L.A., these artists experienced firsthand the socioeconomic disadvantages that face African-American and Hispanic children and realized the need to cultivate, nurture and bring the arts back to the community. Fifteen years later, AGC has grown from a small dream with 75 initial students to serving more than 350 students annually, and thousands since its inception.
Our goals are to create confident, talented, intelligent, and disciplined young people. Ultimately, we are dedicated to providing our youth with a platform to be seen and heard in a non-judgmental environment. Lives are changed, hearts are healed and communication is happening at AGC.
AGC is also committed to furthering education in the arts. We offer a college scholarship named after our beloved co-founder, the TLC Scholarship which is awarded to a deserving graduating senior. Some of our recipients have attended Yale, Julliard, NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, Howard University and Carnegie Mellon. We make every effort to educate and enlighten our students through the work that we produce.
